It’s time to think about what to put in those lunch boxes.
Hy-Vee Dietitian Shelly Palmer says it’s important to pack your kids a balanced meal.
Each plate or lunchbox should have almost the same amount of fruits, vegetables, proteins, and grains.
“When we look at our plate we want to make sure that each meal looks like [‘MyPlate’] so we get all the nutrients and all the energy that our body needs. That keeps our digestive system healthy and our stomachs happy so we’re focused on school the rest of the day,” said Hy-Vee Dietitian Shelly Palmer.
